UEFA to consider concerns over Euro 2024 squad size

A return to the pre-Covid-19 23-player limit had been confirmed by the Uefa — after it was increased to 26 for Euro 2020 and World Cup 2022 — and coaches have voiced their concerns

about the smaller squad size for Euro 2024. UEFA has announced that they will consider these concerns and will discuss the matter further in upcoming meetings.

Several coaches have argued that the smaller squad size could impact the flexibility and depth of their teams, especially with the potential for injuries and fatigue during the tournament. They believe that having a larger squad allows for more options and contingencies in case of unforeseen circumstances.

UEFA has stated that they will carefully review the feedback from coaches and take it into consideration when deciding on the final squad size for Euro 2024. They have also emphasized the importance of ensuring the health and well-being of the players throughout the tournament.

It remains to be seen whether UEFA will ultimately decide to stick with the 23-player limit or consider increasing it based on the concerns raised by coaches. The decision is expected to be made in the coming months as preparations for Euro 2024 continue.
